Warrandyte VIC. (late 1950s) A purported ‘landing’ in the rural township of Warrandyte was investigated by then young journalists, Peter Norris and John Pinkney (both now deceased), which came to their attention as a result of their weekly radio show about UFOs. A case came to their attention involving hundreds of residents who had reported to police and media that they had seen strange lights and huge quasi-human figures at night on a track that twisted through Warrandyte’s ancient bushland.
Two locals, a journalist and a businessman, acted as their guides taking them down to the bend of the river where only a few days previously a young couple had fled from what they called a ‘giant’. The creature was described as ‘white, glowing and manlike, and so tall that its head snapped branches from the towering gum trees as it approached’.
Their journalist guide also reported seeing something strange, as many other residents had also reported, when he was driving down Research Road one night at 9pm. At the time his German Shepherd dog sitting in the back seat began yelping and leaping about terrified, rocking the car and trying to escape. The journalist braked and stared ahead into the darkness. At first he couldn’t see anything but then observed a ‘kind of sunrise behind the trees, then this thing started floating towards us. It was a huge sphere coloured pink’.
The journalist reported that his head began pounding due to the brightness of the light, and by this time his dog was going ‘beserk’. The object drifted up to them, touching the windscreen of his vehicle and filling his car with brilliant light. He described the light as being like ‘a strong anaesthetic’ that ‘froze’ him so he couldn’t move despite wanting to get out of there. He stated that the ‘presence of the light bored into my head like music turned up too loud’. Suddenly the object ‘exploded with a bang’ and the road was dark again so he took off.

Maryborough, Victoria. April 1966 I was working at a place called Maryborough in Victoria. One evening I was with several other people having a quiet drink at the local when all of a sudden a bloke came in yelling “Come outside and see what I saw!” We went out and there in the sky was this bright glow. While we were watching it, it took off at a great speed and within seconds it was out of sight. of nights later, a chap was driving from Maryborough to Stawell, when all of a sudden his headlights switched to the side of the road for no reason at all. He looked to where the lights were shining and here was this object on the land. He drove on to Stawell and reported it to the police, who said that he had had too much to drink.
Two nights later there was an accident on the same road, and when the police went to investigate, they found a big circle of burnt grass. They then got in touch with the first fellow that reported it and went to where he saw the craft, and there was the same burnt area. Next night same object followed a chap in his car from Maryborough to a place called Carrisbrook. He ran and got his wife and she also saw it.
The Commonwealth Police came and showed photographs around the district and when people who had seen the object identified it, they were told to forget all about it.
Temora, NSW, 1968
I experienced three crop circles in 1968 on our farm in NSW between Temora, Young, Grenfell and Barmedmund. I realize you get a lot of email but this is a true story. I heard about crop circles in the 70’s but none before so when the internet became available I researched and found the crop circle in Queensland. It was good to know I was not alone in Australia. I did not know what they were until reports started coming in the 70’s.
When I was in 2nd form (age 13 in 1968) my homework was to document a full lunar cycle, which is easy in such a remote location with very little rain, no cloud cover and the nearest towns all over 30 miles away. While I did this I started seeing strange lights so I got my sister to come out each night with me. We watched these UFO’s nightly in the black sky. They changed from green to red and back again frequently. They moved up and down and in unusual patterns – darting here and there in extremely fast ways. We were a bit scared. People tell me it must have been aeroplanes, which is funny as we had none out there.
Part way through the month we decided to go crayfishing in the bottom dam and set off through a paddock that Dad had sown with wheat, which he only did once — in that year 1968. Not far into the paddock we came across three identical circles in the crop, in a line.
They were amazing! They were about 30 feet across (it was before metric conversion). The wheat was swirled flat in a clockwise direction. Every wheat straw (they were ripe) was either flat or upright — there was no in between, no breakage and in perfect patterns. In the centre of each circle was a cone shaped like a V into the crop and soil. The cone had traces of black substance that was filmy with no smell and it was gone the next day. The next day when we went back I was strangely relaxed and it all felt ‘right’. My sister did not feel this and has virtually obliterated it from her memory. I had vague recollections of being in a funny building but it was not scary like everyone was saying back then. I drowned at the age of five and I was put back in my body by beautiful beings of light – – big circles of light that told me to go back and gently put me back in. I now associate these Beings with those circles and UFOs. I have no fear of them at all. Over the last 20 years I have had more and more memories of these Beings come back to me, and I have also had more memories of the craft. I understand now that those three circles were only visible because of the crop being sewn there that year (just the once due to it being an open paddock near the house). I think they used that spot to come and go a lot.
Elands, New South Wales. 1971/72 (reported 2018)
The witness and another man had been out to visit an elderly farmer and stayed at his place overnight. The next day they were driving along a dirt road from the small village where they had just been. There was dew on the road and as the witness looked in the rear view mirror he could see the tyre tracks of his Land Rover on the dewy road behind them. They were the first ones on the road for the day leaving the only tyre tracks. They saw no tyre tracks in front of them either, only the overnight dew on the dirt. They soon got to the top of a rise in the road and saw unusual marks on the road, so they pulled over and stopped. They saw 4 circles about 1 to 1.2 metres in diameter equidistant apart. The witness described them as looking like an exhaust had blown the dirt away from where the circles were. The witnesses could see no tyre tracks or footprints leading to the circles or away from them. It was as if something had just put them down on the ground, then left. They went to visit another friend the next day who said that this happens all the time and said it was kids on trailbikes, but the witness maintained that the circles were not caused by trail bike riders because there were no other tracks on the road at the time except those from their own vehicle.
US Naval Base (HEHolt) North West Cape, Western Australia. October,1973 My father was a Fire Captain on the base, when he witnessed something in 1973. It was also witnessed by a US Naval Lt Com (whose name we have been unable to verify) from a different location, but similar time.
Fathers report – “At 1920 hrs, I was called by the POW to close the Officers club. I proceeded towards the club in the Fire Dept. pick-up 488, when my attention was drawn to a large black object, which at first I took to be a small cloud formation, due west of Area ‘B’ [in the vicinity of Mount Athol – B.C.]. Whilst travelling towards the Officers club I couldn’t help but be attracted by this object’s appearance. On alighting from pick-up 488, I stood for several minutes and watched this black sphere hovering. The sky was clear & pale green-blue. No clouds were about whatsoever.
The object was completely stationary except for a halo around the centre, which appeared to be either revolving or pulsating. After watching it for approx. 4 minutes, it suddenly took off at tremendous speed & disappeared in a northerly direction, in a few seconds. I consider this object to have been approx. 10 metres in diameter, hovering at 300 metres over the hills due west of the base. It was black, maybe due to looking in the direction of the setting sun. No lights appeared on it at any time.”
I have copies of both official reports which were given to the Australian Air Force with names removed. Now apparently there is no record of these reports or the incident, which to me is very suspicious! The copies of these reports were passed on to me by Keith Basterfield. This incident has already been covered extensively in books and on media. It is mentioned Ross Coulthart’s book “In Plain Sight”, and on the tv series of the same name.
Wingen, New South Wales 17 Sep, 1976 3.30am A 32 year old motor mechanic was driving to a location repair a vehicle which had broken down. He was travelling at 110km/hr when suddenly his 1974 TC Cortina began to slow down and the lights went out. He pulled the car up and tried to restart the engine. No ignition, dash or headlights were operating. He decided to get out and look at the battery. Before getting out he noted the speedometer varying from 0–40krm/hr. Not even banging on the dash would stop it. He turned the ignition key to on but got neither ignition light nor any response from the engine. He then lifted the bonnet and checked out the wiring but found everything in order. The battery and terminals were alright. The fan belt was tested tight and all distributor leads and wires were alright.
Thinking that a main fuse or connection was causing the problem he grabbed his torch but it wouldn’t work. It also wouldn’t stick to the car even though it was fitted with a holding magnet. He fitted new batteries but it still didn’t work. It was now a few moments since he had stopped. He noticed a bright light on his left heading his way. It became brighter and after 2 minutes it was clearly a roundish object at a height of only 4m. It passed directly over his car and gave out a slight amount of heat. No sound nor any distinguishing marks were noted. Speed was 40km/hr and it was lost to sight in the distance.
He tried to turn over the motor by flexing the fan belt but as he touched it the motor suddenly became operable itself. It just as quickly stopped. Then the headlights came on and the radio began to operate. Jumping back into the car he tried to turn off the radio but the switch wouldn’t work. The set was not in operation and had been off so he was at a loss to see how it was working. Turning the ignition it instantly started. He noted the headlights were again operating but were shining with abnormal brilliance. The man drove off and all systems were then operating normally.
Later that day his girlfriend woke him up and reported that the motor had started up whilst the car was locked and no-one was present. One week later the car started having mechanical problems and he found his watch no longer worked correctly.

Armidale (NSW), January 1 1981
‘On the evening of January 1 1981, my husband and I stayed overnight at a motor inn at Armidale. As we intended making an early start the next day, I awoke at 5.00am and heard sounds from the car park. I looked out of the window and noticed in the sky, in a northerly direction, a large blue-green glow which at first I thought was a flare but on closer observation noticed it was preceded by an oval set of lights. I can only describe this as a string of beads in the shape of an ellipse followed by this flare. The object was not shining brightly and was not moving swiftly. It moved on a level plane that then curved sharply downward and dropped out of view behind buildings and trees on the horizon. It was in view around 10-15 seconds.’

Ayres Rock, Northern Territory. October,1988 My cousin and I were on a working holiday around Australia. We camped at Ayers Rock and during the night I woke to see 2 lights looking like a car had parked with its lights on nearby, about 300 meters away. I dismissed it and put more wood on the fire. Soon a large dog-like creature came up to our camp. I was scared and my cousin Paul woke up and saw it as well. I grabbed a gun and pointed it at it and warned it I would shoot. It moved away into the night. Moments later I heard what sounded like a steer in pain. Then moments later I heard what sounded like tin cans rattling. Then the 2 lights rose up to a height of around 250 to 280 meters and one went over the resort and then disappeared into the horizon. The other light went over the rock as my cousin and I watched in disbelief. They made no sound then suddenly it made quick zig-zag movements, then shot straight up into the night sky leaving a streak of light in its wake and disappearing into the stars. A few years later we reported it to the National Institute of Discovery Science in the USA asking our names to be silent for fear of ridicule.

Lismore, New South Wales, December 1988
My wife and 3-year old daughter and I had an experience back in December 1988. Coming back from Lismore to Casino just on dusk, about 10 kilometres on the highway out from Lismore going into a bend, we could see this craft. It looked like a Japanese mini-sub with a cockpit on top, hovering over a creek about a metre off the water. We looked at each other as if to say ‘what’s the heck is that?’, and then it dawned on us — it was a UFO 30 metres away. I was scared but excited, and gave them a wave for what I guess was 20 seconds. The cockpit lights were on and were yellow looking, but I could not see anyone inside. So as I drove along slowly, the craft started flying beside me. I’d speed up and so would it. I’d slow down and it would too. This went on for about 5 kilometres, then we parted. The strange thing was, not another car was on the highway and I suffered with a body static electric problem for 5 years after. But I got the feeling they were happy, I guess, as I waved to them and smiled. I’m 70 years old and I’ll never forget that evening as long as I live.
Between Ballarat and Ballan, Victoria. Circa 1995. We were driving back to Ballarat when we spotted what looked like a meteor in the sky hurtling towards the ground. It overtook the car so I pulled over and we all got out to watch. I honestly thought we were about to witness a meteor hitting the earth. But then like magic it just stopped still…. this shiny glowing orb. It then moved in a precise triangular pattern and it slowly started to ascend. It reached a point and stopped. Then this thing moved like nothing I’d ever seen before. Its speed was incredible and it just vanished. I still have no idea what that was but it wasn’t from here.
Callala Bay, Shoalhaven. New South Wales 1996. 4am My father & myself were heading to work (professional fishing). We were coming from Callala Bay and heading into the Shoalhaven River hauling for prawns. Other fishermen were also heading there. One morning near the T intersection of Coonamia road and Greenwell Point Road I was driving the land rover towing the boat when we saw a big flash similar to a lightning flash, but when the light didn’t disappear we looked up. It was a brilliant light that was stationary. I pulled over on the side of the road to observe whatever this light was and we were looking at it for about 10 seconds before it took off straight up in the sky and disappeared in about one second. The duration of time to when we first saw it to the time we pulled over would have been about one minute. I couldn’t make out a shape of whatever this thing was as the light was so intense. The speed in which it took off straight up is what blew my mind as I knew that no man made aircraft can move that fast and straight up. I remember my dad saying don’t tell anyone what you saw otherwise they’ll think you’re crazy, even though I said to him …. If that wasn’t a UFO I’ll f…ing eat my hat! Two other fishermen saw it on their way to work too.
Katanning, Western Australia. late 1996, approximately 7.00-9.00am
I was 15 at the time, and had just left the local abattoirs (now named WAMMCO international) and was walking the two kilometres back into Katanning by walking along the great southern highway. I had walked about one kilometre approximately into the journey when I looked towards the east and in plain view saw a metallic object the size of a small cottage that appeared to be on fire, about one kilometre from my position. The object was metallic with a colour of orange fire, flying low, and I estimated its height by the tall eucalyptus trees it was above to be about 150 meters off the ground. It was travelling south to north above farmland at about 15-20 kilometres an hour. I felt panicked and waited for a car to go by and flag them down, but the highway was eerily silent. I observed the object until it got out of view.
I went home and tried to find a Bureau of Meteorology number as I believed it was an asteroid or meteor at the time. However, after thinking about it recently and doing a web search on the matter I found that it cannot have been a meteor as they travel about 1000km/h, and found endless fireball UFO sightings like mine.
Hastings Point, New South Wales. Tuesday August 22, 2000, 1.30am to 2.00am
Two witnesses observed a triangular shaped black cloud which looked like a 3 sided inverted pyramid in the SE sky. Out of the bottom left hand corner they saw a red frigate shaped object sticking out of it. The object was about one km away from them making a weird harmonic sound like a fishing-line wind harp. It went from left to right in the sky. The witnesses walked to the beach to get a better look and saw a shooting star that made a pinging noise. At the same time the cloud dissipated in the sky leaving a square white cloud in a grid pattern. The caller said he has a lot of information in his head that he doesn’t know where it came from, yet he described himself as being quite unknowledgeable.
Karukali, New South Wales 2002
I would like to write to you about an experience I had in Northern NSW in 2002. I was with friends in the community of Karukali, Coopers Lane Main Arm. We were having a BBQ outside and it was on nightfall. After dinner everyone was talking. I turned to my partner at the time and mentioned the full moon. He told me that the full moon was last week, but I was adamant that it was rising. No one could understand what I was talking about. Then this disc came no more than five meters from us all. It was glowing, like silvery gold. I cannot describe the colour completely. It had a halo and moved very very slowly. It bounced in front of us like it was dancing and playing. We were all in awe and my friend was crying. Three small lights emerged from the larger light and moved around us and then to the cliffs behind us. The lights were apparent for over an hour. There were five of us present and we all saw them. Ever since this experience I have been seeing, whatever terminology you would like to refer to this as, ‘UFO’s, beings of light, extraterrestrials’, and I am at times quite terrified of these experiences. This happened in 2002 and it is now 2011 and their presence is still contacting me to this day. I have never spoken to anyone about this for fear of a label of insanity.
Lightning Ridge, New South Wales, August 31, 2002. Bruce Cuming of the Lightning Ridge UFO Watch conducted this interview on Tuesday 24th September, 2002.
J. went to bed Saturday night August 31, 2002. She woke up at 1.30am to go to the bathroom. She heard her puppy barking quite loudly, differently to what she had heard it do before. She got up, got her torch, went to the door and shone it outside to where the dog was barking and saw a being described as quite tall, very thin, very long legs, and about 8 feet tall. It’s approximate body length alone (torso) was 4 ½ feet. The head was very dark and she did not see it’s eyes at first. She didn’t recall seeing any arms either. It’s head was an inverted triangular shape and this shape was very distinctive. The being seemed to be dressed in a wet suit material that was dark grey with khaki stripes. When she initially shone the torch on the being she did not notice it’s eyes but she did later when she went to come inside and saw they were really brilliant.
J. called her husband to come and have a look at what she was seeing, which he wouldn’t do, so she went to go inside to get him out of bed. As she did so the beings’ eyes flashed at her and she described it’s eyes as being brilliant green and approximately 2 inches in diameter. She said if diamonds were green this would be what they would look like. She went inside to get her husband, who still refused to come out, and when she returned to the door the being was not there. She again shone the torch around until she found it sitting on an old utility vehicle parked on the property about 15 yards away. All she could see at the time were the creature’s brilliant green eyes. When she first saw the being the hairs on her arms stood up. She was quite speechless and shocked but she was not scared. She did not see anything in the sky at the time.
The next morning, Sunday September 1, a friend rang and asked if she would go to collect his son and bring him back to J’s place by 6 pm so he could call him as he wanted to speak to him on Father’s day. While doing so she was told by others they had been watching a flying saucer on the evening of Friday 30th at about 8.30pm, the night before J’s experience.
J. wasn’t game to speak to anyone about her experience “in case they thought she was looney.” The area around J’s property has a lot of trees.
Upon further questioning it was revealed that J. and her children have had UFO sightings and strange encounters before this incident. They are reported as follows:
#1 J. had a sighting 34 years ago while living at Labrador. Her son’s birthday party was being held in the back yard in the evening. It was very dark and she saw a metal cone-shaped object flying across the sky with a huge orangey-red flame coming out the back. Another one came up behind it and went straight past it. The object was easily travelling at 700 mph.
#2 While living at Acacia Ridge J’s son came inside, covered in mud and screaming that he had seen something. At the time she didn’t know what to make of this incident. A couple of days later she read a story in the Courier Mail of a man who had seen something land near the dam. She knew her son used to go there all the time. Her son later told her he saw something land as he walked over a hill and the whole time a light was flashing above his head. The same son had seen something at (Windsor?) years ago. This son always refers to himself an alien.
#3 Four years ago, while living at Boonah, J. was coming outside to go to the toilet and she saw a woman with blond hair sitting close by. She had never seen her before in her life. The woman put her hand out and grabbed J’s hand as she walked by. As she did so she said to J., “I’ve been waiting for you, you should have been here three times before and you didn’t turn up.” This was true as J. had been going to leave the Gold Coast three times before but didn’t. Then the woman told J. about J’s whole life from when she was a little girl. The woman said, “tell your children to move to the other side of the range as there is going to be a tidal wave and it’s going to wipe out the whole of the coast.”
J. states that she always knows when there’s an earthquake or tidal wave. Two nights before this interview she said to her husband “there is an earthquake or something”. The next day she heard on the news there had been an earthquake in England. Lately she has had a feeling that something really bad is going to happen.
Traralgon, Victoria. 7 August, 2005
I have always wondered about this event and I decided to look up UFO sightings tonight and was surprised to see someone else had a similar experience on the same night in Traralgon. I wrote it down so I would not forget it. We were driving along the highway, from Traralgon to our house which is around 7kms away near the Latrobe Regional Hospital, at around 10:30pm when my husband suddenly said, “David, (my young son who was 9 years old) look above in the sky.” I looked up and saw a perfect circular ring with perfect circular cloud rings, and it followed our car at the same speed we were travelling, on our left side. It was about twenty feet high.
Imagine the circles being perfect and they were clouds. There were no cars in front, behind or on the side in another road. As we turned right towards the airport road from the highway towards our place, the circle followed us. We turned left, it followed us left until we took the car inside the garage. We got out of the garage, and outside the cloud formation was about eight feet above the garage, perfect in formation and I was surprised to see that the circles were made of cloud, inside the massive cloud, and were swirling in unison like a figure eight. Inside the circles it was black, ie. you could see straight through each circle into the night sky. There was no beam above or below. It was pitch dark and no clouds were visible above it, and the object was totally silent and I felt like I was being watched. It was really eerie as I have never seen anything like this before.
The most amazing thing was seeing those clouds swirling in perfect unison, making perfect circles. Coming home, the circle that followed us went past clouds and did not disappear as it flew under clouds. My sister said that her son’s friend also saw it from Traralgon South and text messaged immediately to find out what it was. Someone claims that it was the disco lights from the Astro Dome, but every Saturday we go through the same highway around this time to come home and we have never seen this. How is it that a light from a disco place can follow you and at such a long distance? There were no light beams on it, it was a cloud that followed us. How is it that it stopped above the garage and had those cloud rings moving perfectly? I cannot figure this out and am happy that someone else reported it. I wonder whether this sighting is common elsewhere around the world. I never reported it because I haven’t come across this before.
Meekathara, Western Australia circa 2010. 11pm My partner and I saw a strange light take off into space. At first it was like a bright shooting star coming towards the horizon. Just before it got to the horizon it took a sharp 90 degree turn to the right and travelled horizontal for a bit at the same speed it came down before disappearing. We were trying to justify what we saw as my ex was a scientist and we were coming with all sorts of theories as to how that was possible. About 5 minutes later a bright lime green light appeared about the same spot where the light had disappeared. It travelled slowly in the other direction horizontally, we thought maybe a plane but didn’t make sense as it was green light and not red (port side and not flashing). Then all of the sudden it shot up vertically as fast as it came down or maybe even a bit faster and kept going until it was out of sight. We were honestly quite scared as we were in the middle of nowhere and weren’t sure what just happened or what we might encounter up ahead.
Terranora, New South Wales. February 2012, 9.45pm
I would like to report an incident that happened over Terranora about a month ago. It was approximately 9 .45pm and I was on the computer out on our veranda. My wife was in the back garden with the dog before going to bed when she called out ‘George come and look at this.’ I said ‘no I’ve got no shoes on,’ and she said ‘I think you should see this,’ so I ran down in time to see a bright orange ball of light moving overhead. My wife said it flew directly over our house, although I didn’t witness this. The orange ball had shards of light coming out in all directions, and I thought at first it was my eyes playing tricks, so I asked my wife to fetch the binoculars (I should have asked for the camera). The light coming out of it was still there, and she said she could see it too as it moved out over some trees. It stopped moving and stayed in one spot for three or four minutes, then the lights seemed to retract into it. The object would go very dim, then slowly move off, then it would stop and go very bright again — out came the shards of light and it would just hang motionless again. Every time it moved off it would go dim, and every time it stopped it would go very bright again. This happened three or four times before it disappeared behind some trees. I feel very privileged to have witnessed this strange event indeed
Ross, Tasmania, April 2012 (Easter Tuesday)
I drove a bus for Tassielink transit from Devonport to Hobart return, and I was on the return journey from Hobart to Launceston and then Devonport. I had passed a little town called Ross and came around a corner onto a long straight we use to call the ‘flying 5 miles’ to Campbell Town. When there were not many passengers they would put me into a Toyota Coaster, a 21-seat bus. I had a lady right beside me and several passengers behind as I looked forward and could see what I thought was a bird from a long way off. As I got closer I remember saying to myself ‘what the hell is that [object] stationary over the highway?’ I thought I could see glass on top [of the object] and possibly some yellow colour, but I was not sure. As we got closer I leaned forward and looked up. The craft was partially in a light cloud – it was sunny with the odd cloud that day – and I can tell you what I saw that day was not of this time or world. I am familiar with all types of military craft and it was stationary. When you are a logical person and you see something that is illogical… well I was speechless for about 3 kilometres up the road. I looked left and said to the lady beside me, ‘Did you see that?’ She said ‘What?’ When I told her she got upset because she was right into UFOs. The man in the seat behind me said he saw it, but said he did not see it like I did, leaning forward and looking up. My biggest regret is that I did not stop, probably because of shock.
I rang the police the next day to see if anyone else reported it. They said no, but gave me the number of a man in Hobart to report UFO sightings to. After talking to him he wanted me to draw what I saw and write how I saw it, which I did. He told me he would get back to me — he did not. I rang two years later to be told he was no longer there, and I relayed the story to the new man who said he believed what I saw by the tone of my voice. I was 52 at the time and I asked work for some counselling but was denied. They sent me a letter to say I was not to mention this to passengers on the bus again. What I saw was nothing like your typical UFO shape – talking about this still raises the hairs on the back of my neck – and it cast a shadow as we went under it. It was partially in cloud but it was big. I feel very privileged to have seen this and I now know there is something out there. It was not of this time or world.

Rosebank, New South Wales. May 10, 2012
I was in the back yard last night with two other adults and we all saw a sighting. I’m not great with all the details so I’ll keep it brief. The UFOs were flying in a triangular formation… or was it one UFO with three lights on it? We also saw lights fly across the sky then change directions.
Casino, New South Wales. June 3, 2012. 7.00pm
Standing outside in South Casino facing north, myself and two friends witnessed two lights the colour of fire in the sky. One was above the other light, about 50 metres above. They seemed to be moving south and we put it down to being helicopters until both objects seemed to turn east behind a very small cloud and totally disappeared. We had not been drinking.
Ingle Farm, South Australia July 29, 2012, 7.00pm
I live in Ingle Farm, a north-eastern suburb of Adelaide, and on the night of 29/07/12 at approximately 7.00pm I was in our back yard having a cigarette when I noticed a fairly bright ‘star’ like light in the sky that was moving from the south to the north, and to our east, rising to an angle from the horizon of approximately 35-45 degrees.
When I first noticed it, it was in the south at an angle to the horizon of approximately 20 degrees, and way in the distance as seen looking over the roof of our rear neighbour’s house. This object easily was brighter and a fair bit larger than any star in the sky, and gave the impression of being much closer than a normal space satellite would look in the sky (I have seen plenty of those and know what they look like). I would say it was inside our atmosphere easily, possibly at the distance away a plane would need to be for you to see its flashing lights in the night sky. I hope that makes some kind of sense, in terms of distance. I’m finding that a little hard to describe. If I had to guess, I’d say it was possibly over the Adelaide foothills.
It was verging on a more golden colour (or yellow) rather than the flat white colour a star usually gives off, and it didn’t flash or anything, more like the constant ‘twinkle’ of a star. It moved in the trajectory I mentioned, but seemed to waver around, only slightly, but enough for the eyes to notice, up and down of the axis it was travelling on, in a random manner. When I first noticed this I thought of a “balloon with a candle attached” like some people like to build and let go. I still thought this until I saw the other lights.
Anyway, I called my family to see the first light. Two of our three pre-teen boys (ages 10 and 12) came out and also saw the light. I guess this means it was visual for a minute or more, in a clear part of the sky, before all three of us watched as it headed towards a patch of cloud to our east, where it dimmed slightly in the outer clouds, and then was finally blocked by the clouds. The next thing that got my attention was that it did not reappear in the given time it should have taken to travel through the fairly small patch of cloud, and did not reappear on the same trajectory at the other side. It just wasn’t there anymore, and I’d say we waited at least a minute longer than it should have taken.
We waited perhaps 90 seconds, and our 10 year old got bored and went inside. Then both my 12 year old and I said ‘there’s another one’ at almost exactly the same time. This second object was very much like a satellite would look, smaller and that typical white colour. If I had seen this at any other time, I would have just thought ‘satellite’ and not much else, but given what we’d just seen, it seemed to add to the strangeness. This object was at a much higher angle to the horizon, approximately 65-75 degrees, and moving in the opposite direction, north to south, but still slightly to our east. As this object moved high in the sky, we both saw another object of the same description moving south to north, slightly higher again, and seeming to be just ‘above’ the other small object, but moving in the opposite direction. Both had that ‘satellite’ appearance and seemed to be much further away, but seeing all three of these things within about 2-3 minutes of each other, with the 2nd and 3rd object at the same time and so close to each other, is just too weird.
I think our 10 yr old came back out when we called out again as we saw the 2nd and 3rd lights, but I can’t remember if he saw the 2nd and 3rd lights. These lights were only visible for a short time as the sky up higher was quite cloudy. Again, these lights seemed to not continue on their normal trajectory at the far side of the cloud areas they entered, they just didn’t come out the other side. I would also like to mention that both my 12 year old and I saw what looked like a normal shooting star in the south-east and quite high in the sky during all of this, but I still honestly think that this was just coincidence.
I do like to ‘watch the skies’, admittedly, but have never had the need to report anything like this until tonight. I had two witnesses, even if they’re children, so I thought it worth reporting to someone.
Tighes Hill, Newcastle, NSW. 2014 It was the morning of my holiday cruise and I woke up before my alarm went off. I saw an alien walking through my lounge room into my kitchen then vanish. Along the way he stopped and stared at me in bed. I stared back. All I could think was ‘nice abs’. Not sure if it read my mind, but he shook his head and walked off into the kitchen where I lost sight of him. I only had one entry door, a glass sliding door which I could see from my bed. It’s an open plan unit. The alien didn’t go out the door. I got up and checked – he had vanishedThat encounter happened. Description :Grey Alien wearing very tight full body suit. No eyes just indent of the big eyes. Very broad shoulders and six pack Abs (a fit alien), long legs, he was about 6 foot tall. I didn’t see his feet because of a 2 seater lounge obscuring my view. His hands were normal. I wasn’t sure if I should be scared or intrigued with what I was seeing.
Kuringai-Chase National Park, New South Wales, 2017
A man was driving at 5.00pm in the national park on the outskirts of Sydney when he looked up to see a disc-shaped craft only 50 metres above his head, at the height of a gum tree. He watched it for 5 seconds from the car before pulling over to get a better look. He described the object as metallic grey in colour, two to three car-widths in size, with a 5 metre radius. On the outside of the object he could see circular coloured lights of purple, yellow, blue and red, pulsating and vibrant. He watched the object for another five to ten seconds before it disappeared.
St Leonards, Victoria, 8 December 8 2017 (reported July 2018)
A man and his neighbour observed a large object lift up from an area near a local swamp. He described the object as having little windows around it with a dome on top. The witnesses were looking north at the time, and as the object tilted they could see it was round with a heavy grey bottom. There was a white rotating light underneath and a white ring. It was about 500-600 feet from them so they got a good look before it took off. A previous incident took place two weeks after the witness moved into his home at the same location. One night he was in bed and his window was lit up a bright orange. The witness looked through his bedroom curtain and could see a humanoid shape on the other side of his bedroom window. He described it as all white, about 5’ 3” tall, and he watched it for 4 to 5 minutes. He was too scared to go outside and check it out so he put his head under the covers until it disappeared. He has friends who told him about their close encounters and he didn’t know whether to believe them, but he does now that he’s seen strange things himself.
East Maitland, NSW, August 21 2022, 8:48pm
My husband and I were driving along Mount Vincent Road on our way home from seeing a movie when I noticed something rising over the trees in the bush. We pulled over to get a better look and what we both witnessed was something we will never forget. A grey triangular-shaped craft flew slowly over our car, giving us both an incredible view from underneath it, and it was unlike anything we have ever seen before. The corners of the triangle were rounded and it had 3 bright white lights in each corner, connected by rows of smaller lights. It also had a red light at the front and a blue light at the back. The lights were flashing randomly throughout the duration of the time we viewed it.
The underside of the craft was not flat but incredibly detailed, with numerous 3D rectangular shapes and ridges. It was at least two times the width and length of our car (from our view). It was also completely silent, except for a few seconds where it made a beautiful sound which I can only describe as being like the sound a crystal glass Makes when you move your finger around its rim. It made this sound once (that I heard) as it was right over us. I was half hanging out the window looking at it so I heard it perfectly, but my husband was inside the car and didn’t hear the sound it made. I did catch that sound on camera. After it passed us it headed over the road behind our car towards the nearby houses. I got out of the car and watched it circle slowly around a cluster of houses then move back into the forest.
Unfortunately due to the brightness of its lights it mostly showed up [on camera] as a big glowing orb of light until it got a good distance away from us, and by that point it was hard to make it out in the footage. I was able to get these photos by cropping the frames of the video (I will caption them with the angles at the time of the capture). Despite watching the footage numerous times, it wasn’t until a couple of days later when my mum and I were watching back the 32-second video again that she pointed out that what I thought was a star to the right of the street lamp disappeared, then later reappeared and was blinking the same as the craft we were watching. Then off to the far right at the very end of the video you can see a row of three lights shine in the bush one by one. I was so focused on the original craft, which is moving in the direction of the street lamp, that I never noticed the other two possible crafts! I was super excited to be seeing what we saw, but my husband was in complete shock, barely saying a word throughout the experience.

Albany, Western Australia. August 17, 2022
“I was walking on Middleton Beach in Albany, Western Australia, this evening in the dark. I heard a whooshing noise above and behind me and looked around in time to see what looked to be a fading zig-zagging trail of light. Then looking up and to my left I saw a bright green oval globe with perhaps a red glow from the rear approximately 30 centimetres in diameter, but it was hard to judge in the dark. It flew on rapidly and seemed to land or crash into an area of bush. It would have been maybe 50-60 feet (15-18 metres) in altitude when I first saw it.”
Nelson Plains (Newcastle), New South Wales. August 10 2022, 7.26pm
A young woman was driving home in the evening when she observed a triangular-shaped object hovering over a field on the opposite side of the road. She pulled over to the side of the road and watched a bright, yellow-gold light hovering silently approximately 40 metres above the field. She described it as twice the size of her vehicle with a gold light on each corner of the triangle. She sat and watched it for 10 minutes with cars driving by very occasionally, but no one else stopped to look. The object lifted up to just above tree-top height and moved slowly over the road above her car, moving off to her left and behind her into the distance. As it rose up she saw a red flashing light in the middle of the triangle underneath. The light looked hazy so she couldn’t see any clear silhouette or structure to the object except the emanation from the lights.
As it disappeared off towards the city behind her she saw another two objects, moving in the opposite direction towards her vehicle, fly by and disappear into the distance. She then drove on as she had parked in a difficult position in relation to any vehicles driving past. She then saw another two more objects, this time off in the distance, so she pulled over again to watch. Then saw another light high up in the sky but it was too far away to see any detail except the light.

Tooloom National Park, New South Wales. early August 2022
A man was driving and pulled over to stretch his legs when he saw a matt-black object approximately one foot long and 6 inches wide (30cm x 15cm), dart across his view. He described it as “cutting across the wind”, moving at an incredible speed as it banked up the mountain then shot down the side of the mountain (approximately 300 metres high) and disappeared. When asked if it could have been a bat he said definitely not because the speed was incredible, even if it was doing a vertical nose dive. On another occasion he was outside at his home in Urbenville NSW, watering a lotus plant in the evening. He was casually looking around when he saw to the south-west a white object vertically drop then stop in the air about 150 metres above the ground. It was orb-shaped and the size of a basketball. It then moved horizontally to the north with no sound. He watched the object for 3-4 minutes as it moved away.
Lake Munmorah NSW. May, 2024 I was staying in an airbnb at Lake Munmorah NSW. We arrived on dusk and unpacked and ate late. My partner went to bed at about 11pm. I called my Son at 11pm and I sat outside under the back porch talking to him for about 10 minutes when I noticed lights over the lake. A light was in the sky over the very middle of the lake. There are no buildings and no houses, no planes, nothing over the lake. I told my Son I had to go and started filming. My arms got tired and I went and woke my partner because I knew it was something kinda crazy. He came out and stared in amazement for half hour and then went back to bed (haha). But I kept filming for as long as I could. There were many orbs spinning and circling around what I think was a Min Min light.
July 2024. Wollongong NSW. I’ve had quite a few experiences, a recent and unexpected experience back in Wollongong, late July, 2024. Was catching up with a friend and the sun was beginning to set. I spontaneously decided to head down to the beach for a bit, since I wasn’t far. Once I arrived and parked my car, I made my way down and started walking along the sand. After a while, walking along the beach, enjoying the moment, it started to get cold and I decided to turn around and head back towards the car.
When I looked up the sky was quite clear with a few clouds, but what I noticed was orbs, and flashes of them moving and darting everywhere. The sky looked alive, I thought. Then I remember looking back down on the sand for a moment but what I saw when I looked up was something I’d never expect. Right there, near the lighthouse, left hand side, was 7 bright yellow lights that marked the outline of what looked like a boomerang shape. My eyes were absorbed and transfixed on this craft. It was huge. I was in awe of it. I was not scared at all. I continued to watch it, feeling excited as it slowly moved. This lasted for about a minute before it slowly turned to the left and one by one, the lights faded. I remember getting back to the car in complete awe of what I saw. I was not expecting to see that at all! It was Beautiful! I don’t know if anyone else saw it, but boy, it was.. yeah.. just lost for words! (witness sketch below)

November 2024. 2.30am Between Narrandra and West Wylong, NSW I had something follow me in my truck until another truck came over the rise. It moved away to the right of the Moon, next thing it was beside me on the driver’s side of the truck. It stayed with me for about 15 minutes, around bends up and down hills.
I asked the truck driver (by radio) if he saw it too and he said, “it’s beside me now”. For some stupid reason I was not scared and I am usually scared to death of them. My husband was in the bunk asleep in the truck but I never called him. I never activated my cameras which are in the truck and outside. I never touched my phone either. A feeling of calmness came over me and I don’t know why. It was big and red, as bright as could be. Absolutely beautiful. I feel like a fool when I mention that it appeared as a red dot under the moon.
OTHER COUNTRIES
West Sussex, United Kingdom. 1958 – 1960 “Jelly Men” As a kid in the UK, I used to get what I thought of as ‘the jelly men’ who would wait until my parents went to bed, before appearing in my bedroom doorway. One was as very thin and as tall as the door frame while the other would be fat and small. As I watched, the tall, thin one would slowly get smaller in height and grow fatter while the small fat one would do the opposite- grow taller and skinnier. It was a bit like stretching a jelly baby sweet. After about 15 seconds or so, they had completely reversed their original shapes. Then they would do the same thing again, the tall, thin one get smaller and fatter while ‘his mate’ did the opposite. I’d watch all this. The next thing I knew, it was the next morning and time to get up for school. I never even thought about telling anyone. Since then I have lost count of the number of strange, impossible things that have happened to me. I’m 70 years old now. I’ve lived in Queensland for the last 24 years and even over here, unbelievable things have happened.
1960s United Kingdom As a child back in the 60s in the UK, a group of us kids were playing outside in the fresh snow early one winter’s evening. It was dark and we were watching a solid white light (not flashing) moving from left to right. It looked to be very high up in the sky, moving at about the same speed a plane might move. It suddenly turned at a right angle and sped off in a split second across the sky and out of our view.
New Zealand. During childhood and 1996. A twenty-nine year old woman has described about a dozen UFO related experiences which have happened in the course of her life. When she was 8-9 years old and living in New Zealand, she was being taken to a friend’s place after school. As they were proceeding along a long road, she saw a white oval object. During 1996, in Hornby, New Zealand, she and others saw an orange diamond shape with six sides flashing colours ranging from a dark orange to peach. It projected a laser like beam with a square cross section that extended like an accordion lunging at a woman and a baby sitter. They had watched it for about 10 minutes when the light lunged at them and they ran inside the house, closed doors and windows, and continued observing the object for a total of about one hour. About four months after the above episode, she was half asleep in bed and saw a light outside. The next day her neighbour commented that she must have been up all night with all her lights on. However she thought the lights were outside. As a 9-10 year old child, she saw grey shadows in her bedroom that frightened her. The forms were dark with caps on their heads. One night she remembers waking up, looking outside and saying to the outside “Come in! it’s OK Mum and Dad are in bed.” She recalls seeing white aliens with long stringy arms and legs, almond shaped eyes looking on and coming at her. She recalls a “light room” – very bright light. As she walked through, she had to shut the door behind her – must always do this. The room was on what seemed to be a cliff with a huge drop. She remembers being levitated on her back in the dark, with stars rushing past, and being tested to see how much (pain?) she could handle. She has had a lot of menstrual problems, and her hormones were all over the place. Her daughter has had nightmares related to her own unusual experiences. She says she has no “bad” memories.
Auckland, New Zealand, 1981/82
Reported 10 July 2016 A security guard was on night patrol in an area southeast of Auckland when the inside of his vehicle “lit up like daylight, turning night into day.” He looked up to see a crimson-red broadly spread light emitting from the low cloud base above at approximately 1000ft altitude. He briefly thought the cloud base was lit by a flare, but then he saw “something like glowing sand” falling from the sky that lit up the land around him for several miles, so much so that he could see trees, fences, animals etc. Whatever was falling from the sky seemed to fall in sizes ranging from sand sized particles to larger clumps, falling down towards the ground within 100 to 220 yards from his vehicle.
